The Khaki Scouts: Demo #2

    1. I think this title is appropriate because at Mardi Gras people put on Masquerade masks to cover themselves, their true identity. If the woman in the song is not there, she has to have a cover, a Masquerade!

  11. Wow, you've definitely shown a lot of growth with all of your solo recordings over the years. This sounds so wonderful. Beautiful songwriting with a beautiful soul and a beautiful melody.

    How about something along the lines of "Gone With the Wind"?
    "Woman in the Wild"... "Changing Faces"... "Rising"... Hmmm. I hope one of these inspires a name!

  22. I say "Fate Fell Short This Time" theme of the song seems like its talking about life not going the way you expected it to. Plus I'm a huge blink 182 fan so yeah. Love the song though

What about “Mirror Me” (or mirror), “Reflection”, “The Mask I wear” (or just Mask), “Searching”, “Higher”, “Ocean of Life”, “Merely Me”, “Show up”, “My Spirit”, or maybe “My Spirit”. I don’t really know, these may all suck, but I hope they help. I love this song and have been replaying it already.

  30. I would call it "Rearview Mirror". For some reason, I got the image of a girl leaning against a dusty car at a crossroads in the middle of nowhere, just trying to decide who she wants to be next before she chooses a new road and embarks on her journey. Looking back before going forward, and all that.

  32. Only noting the lines: Change my name each night; Play a different character; Fool them every time; I'd fool them every time. And that I recently saw someone write "guise" rather than "guys" in their post, to which I would think more effort would be required to do so and not less. This coupled with the odd behavior, which may simply be the social media norm (I do hope not, as it makes looking "Through the Looking Glass" seem logical) made me consider (not think likely, but in the abnormal - now normal - perhaps the bizarre seems the most sensical) that there was more to the writing than a typo (probably wrong, the world just seems odd to me, and so do I ... being wrong these days). So noting those lines and an internal question that's been under consideration for a while (as nothing makes sense), and furthered by that typo ...

    "Miss You Guise (Guys), Never Needed You Guise, Leave Me Guise, I" (possed more as a question about the typo than anything else).

  34. The lyrics remind me a bit of an animated Miyazaki movie entitled "Spirited Away". It's one of my all time favorites, highly recommended if you haven't seen it yet! I think it would also be a fitting name for this lovely song.
    I also like the word "runaway" and might go with a name like "She Ran", "Runaway, Suzy", "Spirit Runner", or "Show You Me". "Spirited Away" is definitely my favorite, though. Hope these help! : )

  46. "Heard No More" the line about playing a different character and fooling them every time reminded me of the tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow speech from Macbeth. i dont know many shakespeare passages or anything but that speech always stuck out. love the song!

  49. How about: "Who Am I Today" or "Way Back to the Front" or "One-Way Mirror"?

    To me, this song means remembering how it felt in the distant past when everything you started with was new, fresh, and exciting. Oh, what you would give to experience that fire again! You want to recapture that naive feeling and think it would propel you again like it did once.

    You know that you can't fool yourself, because you can't go back. But you remember how it felt and you try anyway; searching for a new direction guided by what you were before.

  52. "Stages 4 & 5"

    In the five stages of grief/loss, stage 4 is depression and stage 5 is acceptance.

    Throughout most of the song, the person mourns the loss of her past self. However, it seems as if in the last few lines ('but I go under anyway', 'that'll last me for a while', 'wouldn't change a thing'), she comes to reluctantly accept this loss.

    Idk i just want some chandler swag.

    I know this isn't what you were looking for but I have some ideas for the song. The guitar has a very good rhythm but it seems to get stagnant after a while. I would mix it up and add more of a percussive beat (sixteenth, eighth-stressed, mute, eighth-stressed, etc) either externally or with the guitar itself with some accents or something during the chorus.

    Take it or leave it I think you're "good people" and think your awesome for really paying attention to your fans online.-Aston

  59. I definitely think it should be called 'The Dip.'
    Personally, I feel that there is a time when you're in the 'Dip' when you feel lost. You're at a lost of inspiration, a lost of motivation. You're trying to regain and find your 'Spirit' that you initially had. On the process of trying to find your spirit, you become even more unmotivated. You try to past the time in hope to regain what was once lost in the dip.

    this song is really deep. I think the words are sort of deceiving. No matter what she does or where she goes she has her music(words/guitar). The introspection she does through music helps her to understand her choices.

    A great perhaps is when you look back on your life and realize that everything that you've done, whether good or bad, has directed you into your current self. If you changed small this's or that's, your life at this very moment may have been completely different. Thinking about how it could've been different is the
    "perhaps." To me, the song is about trying to find who you used to be from who you are. The Great Perhaps is more about the realization that everything you are is the product of all of those past experiences, and though you may think back on "what ifs", you're still happy with who you now are.

IN THE TIME-"BEING" I thought of this title as a little play on words of sort as I listed to the song first,then read the lyrics while listening to the song then read the lyrics alone and listened to the song again.In the time-"being" popped into my head because it could be TIME-BEING,BEING IN THE TIME of every moment and aspect of the song.The song is great because I was able to put myself in it as the PERSON SINGING it and relating to all I imparted here in my thoughts while doing all of this,I was IN THE TIME-"BEING" both the singer and the song.

  70. I was thinking about "Escape" or "Incognito" because I this song meant to me like a woman who wanted to be anything other than herself, escaping from her past, and taking chances with a completely different perspective to life.
